Let It Snow

Here comes the snowfall shuffle.

I just took all of the weather models, suspicions, and predictions with little Regard. There have just been so many false alarms about snowfall over the years that I have an "I’ll believe it when I see it" attitude about all that stuff. Then I got the email: IT’S SNOWING!!! The office will be closing in 30 minutes. I sighed and turned around to look out the window to see 1/4 inch of accumulation.

Growing up in the midwest this really isn’t such a big deal on a volume level… but I know how bad things get in a hurry in Atlanta when snow comes knocking at the door. I took a quick look at Google Maps on my iPod and my entire route home was pretty much Red and I grabbed my stuff to begin a grueling drive home, then the news about ALL of the schools flowing out on the roads at the same time came in. I decided to let the dust settle a little first and retreated for my cube to burn some time. And thus the fruit of this delay is a blog post.

My mind goes back to the late 80s or early 90s ( Maybe this is the one ) when what was supposed to be a harmless little storm came to the southeast and beat the snot out of everyone. People who tried to get home early got stranded on the roads, those who were waiting for a reprieve ended up getting stuck in their offices for 12 to 36 hours. As I glance out the window again I see the stuff really piling up around my Dunwoody office. If Apple had thought to put a camera on the iPod I would take a picture for you… wait, I’ll just use my MOTORAZR:

Snow in Dunwoody

Looks like the gook is starting to stick

While I’ve enjoyed streaming some music (on my private stream of course) and basically hanging out as one of three people sticking around for things to thin out… I’m going to pack up my bags and head for the hills of Lawrenceville, GA. Thanks for taking a few minutes to stop by.
